Security best practices for event organizers

Security & Privacy7 min read

Security is a shared responsibility. A few simple habits keep your workspace and your guests' data safe.

Use a strong, unique password

Use a long, unique password for your GatherPro account and the email address tied to it. Avoid reusing passwords from other sites, and never share your login with anyone.

Give each person their own account

Don't share a single login across your team. Create an account for every team member so you always know who did what and can revoke access individually.

Follow the principle of least privilege

Assign the Staff role by default and reserve Owner for the people who manage the team and settings. Only grant access that a person actually needs.

Review who has access

Check your team members regularly and remove anyone who has left the organization or no longer needs access. Revoked access keeps your data out of the wrong hands.

Protect the check-in scanner

Set a scanner password so only your door team can check guests in. Keep it strong and share it only with people working the door.

Watch for phishing

GatherPro will never email you asking for your password. Verify that links really point to your GatherPro domain before entering your credentials.

Log out on shared devices

Sign out when you are done on a shared or public computer, and lock your screen when you step away from the portal.
